After experiencing body swelling and mental confusion, Edson Arantes was taken by his family to Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo. Today you will find out more about Pelé's health status.
On Friday, December 9th, the world champion used Instagram to comment on the elimination of the Brazilian team in the Quarter Finals of the World Cup, but remains hospitalized. Check out the latest news about star Pelé's health.
Is it true that Pelé passed away?
It all started with the claims that King Pelé died are false and have already been denied by his advisors and family. The timeless highlight of the Brazilian team has remained hospitalized at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, in São Paulo, for a week.
Pelé is carrying out a reevaluation of chemotherapy therapy for bowel cancer, a colon tumor diagnosed in September 2021.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé's given name, is being assisted by experts and has been showing positive developments. “The patient continues to evolve with progressive improvement in his general condition, especially the respiratory infection”, revealed the former player’s doctors.
“Skin remains in a common room, with stable vital signs, conscious and without further complications”, explained the experts.
The daughters of Pelé Kelly and Flávia Nascimento, in an interview with Fantástico, the fake news about Pelé's health condition greatly shook the family. “He is not in the ICU [Intensive Therapy Unit], he is not at risk. He is undergoing treatment”, assured Kelly.
“It is very unfair to say that he is in a terminal phase. It's not that. Believe in us. We don't want to lie. How long are you going to lie if you’re like this at the end?”, he concluded.
What happened to Pelé?
The tumor in Pelé's colon was not the only factor that led to his hospitalization last week, as cancer was also identified in other areas such as the lung and liver. Furthermore, King Pelé presented swelling on his body, mental confusion and, later, stopped responding to chemotherapy, entering exclusive palliative care.
Pelé published an image on Instagram with a reassuring caption about the World Cup in Qatar, which provided several tributes to the king of the Brazilian team.
